Eradicate hunger, ensure food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
Agriculture is important for society as a whole. If we want a healthy society, we must achieve sustainable agriculture. Romania ranks 6th in Europe, in terms of the size of agricultural land. For Romania, agricultural efficiency and food waste limitation are a priority. The 2030 Agenda aims to eradicate hunger and food security by increasing agricultural productivity and reducing food waste.
Targets:
2.1 By 2030, eradicate hunger and ensure access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food for all, especially the poor and vulnerable.
2.2 By 2030, eradicate all forms of malnutrition, including the achievement of internationally agreed targets for weight loss and low waistline in children under 5 years of age by 2025, as well as addressing the nutritional needs of adolescents, pregnant women and children. those who are breastfeeding, as well as the elderly.
2.3 By 2030, doubling agricultural productivity and incomes of smallholder farmers, especially women, indigenous peoples, farmers, pastoralists and fishermen, including through secure and equal access to land, but also to other resources and factors of production, knowledge, financial services , markets and opportunities to create added value and engage in non-agricultural activities.
2.4 By 2030, ensuring sustainable food production systems and implementing resilient agricultural practices, which increase productivity and production, contribute to maintaining ecosystems, strengthen the capacity to adapt to climate change, extreme weather, drought, floods and other disasters and improve progressively the quality of land and soil
2.5 By 2030, maintain the genetic diversity of seeds, cultivated plants and farm and domestic animals and their related wildlife species, including through properly managed and diversified seed and plant banks at national, regional and international levels. In parallel, promoting access and a fair and equitable exchange of benefits resulting from the use of genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge, in accordance with international agreements.
