Objective 12: Responsible consumption and production
Ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns
The notions of consumption and production are fundamental terms in economics. When production and consumption become sustainable, economic growth decouples from climate change. This goal includes both awareness of finite resources and the application of sustainable measures. In this way, an ambiance similar to the current one is designed for our descendants. This approach results in more conscious behavior, including more efficient production, sustainable waste management and, in general, activities in line with the principles of environmental protection.
Targets:
12.1 Implement the 10-year Framework Program for Sustainable Consumption and Production Models, with all countries taking action, led by developed countries, taking into account the development and capabilities of developing countries.
12.2 By 2030, achieve sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources.
12.3 By 2030, halve the global per capita consumption of food waste at retail and consumption levels and reduce food losses along production and supply chains, including post-harvest losses.
12.4 By 2030, achieve environmentally sound management of chemicals and all waste throughout their life cycle, in accordance with internationally agreed frameworks, and significantly reduce their emissions to air, water and soil in order to reduce at least their adverse effects on human health and the environment.
12.5 By 2030, significantly reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.
12.6 Encourage companies, especially large and transnational corporations, to adopt sustainable practices and integrate sustainability information into the reporting cycle.
12.7 Promoting sustainable public procurement practices in line with national policies and priorities.
12.8 By 2030, people everywhere need to have relevant information and be aware of sustainable development and a lifestyle in harmony with nature.
