Ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
Ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water, respectively sanitation for all are fundamental aspirations of citizens. It is the responsibility of the state to ensure the availability of water and sanitation for all. This objective includes various topics, from the protection of aquatic ecosystems and the Danube Delta, to increasing efficiency in the field of management and supplying the population with clean, potable water.
Targets:
6.1 By 2030, achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all.
6.2 By 2030, achieve access to adequate and equitable health and hygiene conditions for all and eliminate defecation in the open air, paying special attention to the needs of women and girls and those in vulnerable situations.
6.3 By 2030, improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating waste storage and minimizing chemicals and hazardous materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater and substantially increasing safe recycling and reuse globally.
6.4 By 2030, substantially increase water efficiency in all sectors and ensure a sustainable process for capturing and supplying drinking water to address water scarcity and substantially reduce the number of people suffering from water scarcity.
6.5 By 2030, implement integrated water resources management at all levels, including, where appropriate, through cross-border cooperation.
6.6 By 2030, protect and restore water-related ecosystems, including mountains, forests, wetlands, rivers, aquifers and lakes.
